OPANA® ER (Oxymorphone Hydrochloride Extended-Release) is a powerful prescription opioid medication used for the management of severe pain requiring continuous, around-the-clock opioid treatment for an extended period.

Uses

• Management of severe chronic pain
• Patients requiring 24/7 opioid analgesia

Dosage

The 40 mg strength is intended for use in opioid-tolerant patients only. The dosage must be individualized based on patient status and monitored closely. It is typically administered every 12 hours. Swallow tablets whole—do not crush, chew, or split.

Side Effects

• Nausea, constipation, dizziness, sedation
• Respiratory depression (serious and potentially fatal)
• Risk of opioid addiction, abuse, and misuse

Warnings

• Use only under medical supervision
• Do not use in opioid-naïve patients
• Avoid alcohol—can cause fatal overdose
